6 Iconic Car Models That May Be Discontinued Soon

As we near the end of 2024, car enthusiasts are mourning the loss of several iconic vehicles. Not every car will be making it into the new year. Manufacturers have announced that they discontinued these six iconic car models.

6. Volvo S60

Volvo is saying farewell to the S60 this year. In the United States, we are seeing a steep decline in the number of sedans being produced. This is because demand for SUVs remains high in the U.S. Consumers are also interested in the electric vehicle movement. So, many carmakers are shifting away from traditional sedans and focusing on SUVs, crossovers, and EVs. Saying goodbye to the S60 is part of a larger movement the car industry is seeing where sedans may become few and far between.

5. Infiniti Q50

The Infiniti Q50 is yet another sedan that is headed off the market at the close of the year. It has been around for 10 years and has been fairly popular. There have been a number of updates made to the saloon, but it hasn’t been enough to move the needle for Infiniti. It’s just one less four-door sedan option available for car buyers.

4. Toyota GR Supra 2.0

Don’t panic. The Toyota Supra itself isn’t being added to the list of discontinued cars. However, the four-cylinder option will no longer be available. Starting in 2025, all Supras will only be offered with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine. Of course, Toyota will also continue to offer the optional six-speed manual as well.

3. Nissan GT-R

Nissan is getting rid of a couple of popular vehicles in 2025. First, they are ditching the Nissan Titan, but the more surprising change in their lineup is certainly the GT-R. Despite being extremely popular when it first came out, more performance cars were introduced at that price point, which outperformed the GT-R. That said, it is an iconic vehicle that many car enthusiasts like myself will be sad to see go. Maybe the carmaker will revamp it and bring it back in the future.

2. Jaguar F-Type

Jaguar is attempting to reinvent itself. It seems like it has been a bit of a flop, with their latest ad campaign going over like a lead balloon. The carmaker is also making some significant changes to its lineup. Four cars will be discontinued in 2024. The Jag F-type, the E-pace, the I-pace, and the XF will all see the end of their time on the production line this year. Jaguar’s F-type has been a favorite sports car for a little more than a decade. So, it will be sad to see it go, but what will be interesting is to see what it’s replaced with.

1. Chevrolet Camaro

Most notably, the Chevrolet Camaro is finally being laid to rest this year. The Camaro has been around since 1966 and we’ve seen many different iterations of the vehicle. In 2024, the carmaker introduced a special Panther edition, but it will be the last. Chevrolet is shifting focus, like many car manufacturers, to meet consumer needs. This isn’t the first time Chevy has nixed the Camaro from its lineup though, so who knows? It could be back in a few years.

Other Notable Discontinued Cars

Of course, these aren’t the only discontinued cars meeting their end in 2024. Here are several other vehicles that won’t live to see 2025…

  • Audi A5, S5, and RS5
  • Bugatti Chiron
  • Ferrari 812
  • Ferrari F8 Spider
  • Fisker Ocean
  • Kia Forte
  • Lamborghini Huracán
  • Maserati Ghibli
  • Maserati Levante
  • Maserati Quattroporte
  • Mini Clubman
  • Mitsubishi Mirage and Mirage G4
  • Ram 1500 Classic
  • Toyota Venza

Each of these six cars being discontinued this year is a testament to the evolution of the automotive industry. As the market changes, carmakers must make hard decisions about some of their most beloved vehicles.

Are you sad to see any of these discontinued cars go? Let us know in the comments.
